U.S. NAVY CRUISER SAILORS ASSN
On 11 April 1992, seven World War II, Korean and Vietnam US
Navy Cruiser Veterans met to discuss the formation of an
association of cruiser sailors, On 18 June1992 the US Navy
Cruiser Sailors Association was officially incorporated.
Now we can point with pride that our members represent
virtually all light, heavy, nuclear and guided missile
cruisers that have served and are serving the fleet. Our
members come from all fifty states and include sailors who
served aboard cruisers of the Australian, British, Canadian,
New Zealand and Russian navies. We maintain a Cruiser
Memorial Room aboard the USS SALEM (CA-139). as part of the
United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum, Quincy,
Massachusetts. Photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia from
many cruisers are displayed. A Living Tree, "October Glory"
maple, and a Marker were dedicated at the Arlington National
Cemetery in Honor and Remembrance of all who served aboard
US Navy cruisers. A US Navy Cruiser Sailors Association
plaque has been placed at the Navy Memorial in Washington,
DC. We produce a quarterly magazine featuring articles and
photographs of cruisers, as well as other interesting naval
topics.
